Remembering workers who lost their lives: MOSH’s commitment to workplace safety and health
Each year on April 28, millions worldwide observe Workers Memorial Day to honor workers who tragically lost their lives on the job. Workers Memorial Day is an important day to reflect and recommit to prioritizing worker safety and health in every workplace each year.In remembrance of those individuals who lost their lives while on the job in the State of Maryland, please join the Maryland Department of Labor and Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH) in observing five minutes of silence at noon on April 28 to remember workers killed on the job and the loved ones and communities left behind.
Each Workers Memorial Day, MOSH and its employees honor fallen workers by renewing the agency’s commitment to enforcing the laws that protect Maryland workers, partnering with all stakeholders to promote and strengthen safety and health practices and cultures, and preventing future tragedies. Every worker should return home safe and healthy at the end of their shift.
Federal OSHA hosts a number of events each year to commemorate Workers Memorial Day, including an in-person and online Workers Memorial Day Ceremony. Additional materials, including downloadable images in both English and Spanish, can also be found on OSHA’s Workers Memorial Day webpage.
