Maryland State Athletic Commission Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, June 17, 2026
On Wednesday, June 17, 2026 the Maryland State Athletic Commission meeting was called to order by Chairman David Norman at 3:00 p.m. Present were the following: Chairman David Norman, Commissioner Carl Wilson, Commissioner James Wilkins, Commissioner James “Binky” Jones, Commissioner Dr. Kristi Hall, Counsel Matthew Venuti, Assistant Attorney General, and, Aajah Harris, Policy Director, O&P, Andrew Friel, Director of Government Affairs, Jason Curtis, Administrative Specialist, and Executive Director Johnston Brown. Members of the public Teresa Breen, Christen Jeter, Tony Jeter, Ben Lipov, and Sharon Sands observed. This was a virtual meeting with Commission members, Commission staff, and the public using the Google Meets platform. The meeting was recorded.
Approval of commission minutes
Minutes were discussed from the meeting of May 20, 2026. Commissioner Wilson made a motion to approve the minutes and seconded by Commissioner Jones. The minutes were unanimously approved without amendment.
Approval / cancellation / ratification of commission-sanctioned events
Executive Director Johnston Brown explained to the Commission that the previously sanctioned Voltage Wrestling event scheduled for May 23rd was canceled due to inclement weather.

Executive Director Johnston Brown advised the Commission about the events from the previous month. Those events included the following:

A motion to approve the upcoming F1ght Club wrestling event on June 21st was made by Commissioner Wilson and seconded by Commissioner Jones. The motion was unanimously approved by the Commission.
A motion to approve the upcoming EWA wrestling event on June 27th was made by Commissioner Wilson and seconded by Commissioner Jones. The motion was unanimously approved by the Commission.
A motion to approve the upcoming Ponytail Promotions boxing event on June 27th was made by Commissioner Wilson and seconded by Commissioner Hall. The motion was unanimously approved by the Commission.
A motion to approve the upcoming Micro Wrestling All-Stars wrestling event on July 2nd was made by Commissioner Wilson and seconded by Commissioner Jones. The motion was unanimously approved by the Commission.
A motion to approve the upcoming Voltage Wrestling event on July 11th was made by Commissioner Wilson and seconded by Commissioner Hall. The motion was unanimously approved by the Commission.
A motion to approve the upcoming Jeter Promotions boxing event on July 18th was made by Commissioner Wilson and seconded by Commissioner Hall. The motion was unanimously approved by the Commission.
New business
There was no new business discussed at this meeting.
Public comments
Boxing promoter Tony Jeter explained to the Commission that he recently worked at the White House UFC event in Washington DC and stated how the event was successful despite ending past midnight.
Boxing promoter Christen Jeter asked the Commission about its marijuana regulations for contestants and what the resulting suspension would be if a contestant failed a Commission approved drug test.
Boxing promoter Tony Jeter asked if the Commission was considering raising the validity of the Commissions Physical examination to 90 days to be in line with recently approved increases to the Neurological and Ophthalmological examinations.
Boxing promoter Christen Jeter asked the Commission what time she should have her contestants report for her event in July since the event is starting earlier than it would normally.
Adjournment
Chairman Dave Norman called for a motion for adjournment at roughly 3:20 p.m. Commissioner Wilson moved to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Hall seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved by the Commission.
