Apprentice Assistance - Office of Apprenticeship

The Office of Apprenticeship is dedicated to safeguarding the health and safety of Maryland’s apprentices and creating high-quality training opportunities for Maryland’s workers.

Becoming an Apprentice

The Office of Apprenticeship does not directly hire or place apprentices for employment. Prospective apprentices should visit our Become an Apprentice webpage to explore opportunities and contact the programs directly.

Apprentice Licensing

Certain occupations require that apprentices hold a license during training. It is important for apprentices to understand their licensing obligations, expiration dates, and requirements. Information and applications for common apprentice licenses can be found below:

Questions about licensing, examinations, and other requirements can be directed to the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing.

Some occupations, such as those in healthcare or education may be subject to licensing and training regulations from other agencies. In these cases, your employer will outline the specific requirements you need to meet.

Apprentice Rights and Protections

Under Maryland law, apprentices are protected from unlawful discrimination, harassment, and unfair or unsafe employment practices. Apprentices may use the form below to request assistance or initiate a complaint. Submissions are handled within two business days.
